Investigate the world: I chose the trip to the Buddhist temple as an example of investigating the world because I got to apply my knowledge and investigate what the situation was in reality. I gave myself an advanced score because I analyzed what I learned and applied them to the objectives. For LEAD9-10.INV1 and INV2, I graded myself proficient and LEAD9-10INV3 and INV4, I graded myself advanced. For this semester, (junior year) I used my essay from History 1302. This helped me identify and understand the problems that have been going on in the middle East for centuries. I give myself an advanced score for identify, applying and finding evidence and accumulating it into one essay. LEAD11-12.INV1. Identify, describe, and frame questions about an issue, and explain how that issue is locally, regionally, and/or globally-focused. For the second semester of Junior year, I graded myself college ready because I used a college course to identify a hidden problem in our nation. I give myself an advanced score for applying the lead perspective to an issue.
Recognizing perspectives: I chose the Snapshot that we do in Mr.Sears' class and used this for recognizing perspectives because one of the main objectives was learning about the culture and using what I know about the African/Asian people, I can use my common knowledge to understand the way they do things. I graded myself advanced for each lead because I applied the understanding of multiple perspectives. For LEAD9-10PERS1, PERS2, and PERS4, I graded myself advanced and for PERS3 proficient. For the first semester of Junior year, I used HISD Student Congress to recognize perspectives of others. Getting together with a body of students and understanding everybody's ideas and opinions allowed me to recognize other's perspectives and find solutions for them. I graded myself advanced. LEAD11-12.PERS1. Express personal perspectives on situations, events, issues or phenomena,and identify influences on that perspective. For the second semester of Junior year, I chose my Chinese comparisons project and used the lead to identify the ideas and opinions and relate them back to the influences of that perpesctive. I graded myself proficient and college ready because I applied the understanding and identifying how it relates back to our present society.
Communicate Ideas: For communicating ideas, I chose learning and communicating about the group Invisible Children and I think this was a good topic to choose because I used collaborate tools and strategies to meet the needs and expectations of diverse individuals and groups. I graded myself advanced because because I identified and understood the expectations and perspectives of diverse audiences. For LEAD9-10COMM1, COMM2, and COMM4, I graded myself advanced and COMM3 proficient. For communicating ideas, I used my independent reading project in Business English. I had to communicate ideas to my audience about what was going on in Afghanistan. I graded myself advanced because I identified and understood the expectations of diverse individuals and groups. Take Action: For Take Action, I chose an individual project over the summer because it incorporated the characteristics and used the objectives to understand how I translated ideas into action. I graded myself advanced because i found appropriate and responsible collaborative actions to improve conditions. For LEAD9-10ACT1-4, I gave myself advanced. Under take action, I reflected on my volunteer experience at a night run that supported prostate cancer. I researched characteristics and took action by organizing a group to volunteer at the run. I graded myself Advanced. LEAD11-12.ACT4. Reflect on their capacity to contribute/advocate for improvement locally, regionally, and/or globally. For the second semester of Junior year, I used my volunteer opportunity at AIMS to improve my community by helping at the magnet signing. I graded myself proficient because I felt like I advocated and gave to the community and it accomplished the purpose of the lead.
